The participation process consists of three parallel workstreams: Data Connectivity, Assets & Prequalification (PQ), and Market Processes. These workstreams can be completed simultaneously. Participation is considered complete only when all three have been successfully finalized.

The process begins with an initial consultation to discuss the participant's flexibility potential, target markets, and key technical and operational requirements. The objective is to establish a common understanding of the participation process and address any initial questions.

Data connectivity

During the technical kick-off meeting, preparations are made for the participant's integration with the platform. Technical interfaces, data formats, communication protocols, and operational workflows are reviewed to identify and resolve any open issues at an early stage.

The participant is then connected to the platform. This includes the provision of access credentials, configuration of authentication mechanisms and endpoints, and validation of all required technical settings.

Communication tests simulate all relevant interactions between the participant, the platform, and APG. These tests verify that systems, data exchanges, and operational processes function reliably and seamlessly.

Assets & PQ concept

This meeting focuses on preparing the participating assets for prequalification. The hardware configuration, technical specifications, control capabilities, and measurement concepts are reviewed to ensure compliance with the applicable requirements.

The participant defines the operating strategy for the asset, including how it responds to dispatch signals and the flexibility range it can reliably provide. This concept forms the basis for secure and market-compliant operation.

The unique operating point defines the reference power level from which balancing services are activated. Establishing this reference point is essential for the accurate activation, measurement, and settlement of balancing energy.

Activation tests verify that the asset responds correctly and within the required time limits to dispatch requests. Performance measurements confirm that the required flexibility can be delivered. Technical approval is granted upon successful completion of these tests.

Market Processes

The final workstream covers the contractual and administrative requirements for participation in the balancing reserve markets. This includes signing the framework agreement, nominating operational contact persons, obtaining balancing group approval, and completing all regulatory documentation. The process concludes with the declaration in accordance with the UStBBKV and the participant's registration as an accredited balancing service provider.

Interface Documentation

The technical documentation required to connect to the platform is provided during the initial onboarding meetings. As the documentation is continuously updated, participants always receive the latest version of the Implementation Guide, ensuring they have access to the most current technical specifications and integration requirements.
